Opening the Doors to Engagement

Overview

When MiXR, a UK-based nightlife and social discovery platform that uses customer engagement to promote loyalty and sales, wanted to capitalize on the holiday party season, they turned to Targa. The request: help MiXR transform a traditional advent calendar into a modern mobile engagement experience.

The campaign combined gamified participation with real world rewards, turning holiday fun into a measurable engagement lift.

The challenge

MiXR needed a holiday activation that would do more than just look good—it had to hold attention and create consistent daily return behavior within the app. The challenge was balancing festive, sponsor-rich visuals with intuitive gameplay that worked flawlessly on mobile, without clutter or lag.

At the same time, the creative needed to integrate multiple brand partners, including Heineken and Diageo, without diluting MiXR’s core brand or overwhelming the user experience.

The creative solution

Targa approached the campaign as both a game and a story—a 25-day visual journey designed to evolve as users progressed.

Working closely with MiXR’s marketing team and Playable’s developers, we built an interactive framework that featured bright festive colors, bold quirky type and energetic animations to blend motion, anticipation, and reward into an engaging and memorable holiday experience.

The result

By launch, the MiXR Advent Calendar campaign became one of the brand’s most engaging in-app experiences to date.

The combination of vibrant creative, thoughtful UX, and seamless Playable integration positioned MiXR as an innovator in digital brand engagement—and set a new bar (pun intended) for interactive seasonal campaigns.
